Welcome the early days of summer at these local blueberry farms in the Triangle area. Picking blueberries is not only a fun outing for the whole family, but blueberries are also good for you, with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Before you head out, call ahead to be sure the blueberry farm you'd like to visit is open for the season, as opening times often vary according to weather and when the fruit is ripe. Hours may also vary due to produce availability.

2019 season: For the 2019 season, I have leased the blueberry field to Sarah and Clay Shipley. Their farm, Family Farmstead, is a grass-fed beef farm about 20 minutes away. They are continuing the no-chemical/no spray traditions and have been busy pruning the bushes all winter. They look great and if we don't end up with a late freeze we may have another bumper crop like last year.
