Volunteers Grow Produce at GCF Farm for Food Bank

O Community Garden

An idea rooted in local food bank contributions and group volunteer work is growing strong at Goodwill Community Foundation in Research Triangle Park. Using money from donations, GCF operates a fully functioning, volunteer-supported farm that donates all fresh produce to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.

The farm produces crops such as sweet potatoes, okra, tomatoes, eggplant, cantaloupe, watermelon, squash, beets, turnips, rutabaga, collards and cabbage. GCF has donated 15,280 pounds of fresh produce so far this year. Last year GCF donated more than 22,000 pounds of produce. Learn more about the farm and volunteer opportunities at gcfglobal.org.
