Touring Your Own Backyard

Fun Ways To Get Around

Three of the Triangle’s largest cities – Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill – offer fun sightseeing opportunities that include everything from rickshaw rides to walking food tours.

Nearly 12 million people visited the state capital in 2011, and Raleigh offers those visitors plenty of options to tour the city, including trolley rides that begin in the historic Mordecai area and the most recently added attraction: downtown Segway tours.

Chapel Hill’s downtown, featuring the historic UNC-Chapel Hill campus and family attractions such as the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, is ideal for a day of walking or biking.

The City of Durham offers destinations such as Duke University, the American Tobacco Downtown Durham Entertainment District and the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

All three cities offer downtown walking food tours to highlight area restaurants and promote pedestrian sightseeing opportunities, and the Triangle Transit system makes it easy to get from city to city as well. Check the following list for more fun ways to tour just outside your own backyard in these Triangle cities.
