Studio Tours Showcase the Work of Triangle Artists

Spotlight Studio Tours

Nearly a hundred local artists will open their doors this fall to display original pieces to visitors during studio tours in Orange and Wake counties. Take your family to one or both. Either way, you’re sure to experience a creative spark.

The Orange County Artists Guild Open Studio Tour has attracted families since 1995. This year, more than 70 guild members are participating in the tour, during which visitors can see the environment where artists create their art and learn about the steps involved in creating the pieces.

The OCAG Studio Tour will take place Nov. 5-6 and Nov. 12-13. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, download the tour brochure and map at www.orangecountyartistsguild.com or call 919-942-7578.

The Western Wake Artists Studio Tour will feature 22 professional artists whose work includes drawing, pottery, ceramics, photography and more. This is the third year for this tour, but the first time it has been held in the fall. Many of the artists will give demonstrations and answer questions during the tour as well as display pieces.

The WWAST Studio Tour is Nov. 12-13. Choose artists to visit and stop by 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday or noon-5 p.m. Sunday. Download a map of studio locations at www.wwast.org. For more information, email info@wwast.org.

If you can’t attend the weekend studio tours, local art centers will display selected pieces. Work from artists participating in the Orange County tour will be on display Oct. 25-Nov. 13 at the FRANK Gallery, located at 109 E. Franklin St. in Chapel Hill, and at the Hillsborough Gallery of Arts, located at 121 N. Churton St. in Hillsborough. For hours, visit www.frankisart.com or www.hillsboroughgallery.com.

Work from artists participating in the Wake County tour will be on display Oct. 28-Nov. 13 at the Cary Arts Center, located at 100 Dry Ave. in Cary, and Nov. 3-26 at the Halle Cultural Arts Center, located at 237 N. Salem St. in Apex. For hours, visit www.townofcary.org or www.apexnc.org/halle.
