Smart Style for September
Breathe into comfort
With so many yogis in our midst, yoga wear has become a style in itself. Made with soft, comfy support in just the right places, moms can now find yoga wear right down to socks and underwear. So whether you’re breathing into a pose or out for coffee with girlfriends, you can look sharp inside and out.
A lot of styles can translate to other fitness modes such as Pilates, dance or running. If you’re gearing up for fall workouts, cropped pants with a colorful waistband will take you stylishly through your downward dogs and cat-cows. Throw on a matching hooded jacket for those crisp fall days.
The popular Lululemon Athletica line of yoga clothing just opened a showroom in Raleigh. Visit www.lululemon.com. And be sure to breathe.
Win the handbag hide ‘n’ seek
If your purse isn’t organized, it can feel like your whole life is one big black hole, too. The Pouchee purse organizer was created by a mom who wanted to stay organized and be able to change handbags at the same time. With other busy moms in mind, she created Pouchee. Now you can change bags with ease by slipping a Pouchee inside your handbag, diaper bag, gym bag or pool bag.
The Pouchee has been designed as the “ultimate purse organizer insert” with handy rings for carrying; outside pockets for pens, sunglasses, cell phone, credit cards and keys; inside pockets for lipsticks or lip balms; and an inside zippered pocket for change or personal items. The fabric lining is light-colored, making your items easy to spot.
Pouchees start at $24 for the cotton version and come in a rainbow of colors. There’s also a jewelry traveler. Gift certificates are available. Visit www.pouchee.com.
Unmasked by the sea
Has summer’s heat and humidity left you in need of a quick pick-me-up for your skin? A Clearwater, Fla., company has brought the wonders of the Dead Sea to a line of skin-care products that will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Choose from its Dead Sea Organic Line as well as an unscented version and a Green Tea and Mandarin line.
A 75-ml tube of the purifying and exfoliating organic mud mask costs $39. It dries in 5 minutes and rinses off easily, leaving your skin feeling clean, soft and renewed.
The Dead Sea has long been known for its rejuvenating and healing properties. “Even Cleopatra herself was reportedly enamored with the Dead Sea’s amazing health benefits and used its distinctive minerals for her legendary beauty treatments,” according to the company’s website.
The Dead Sea contains 21 essential minerals, some of which can be found in no other body of water. Its therapeutic benefits are recognized around the world. Visit www.deluviausa.com.
Time for tunics
If you had to choose one piece of clothing to bring your wardrobe forward to fall, you can bet that tunics will be back and looking better than ever. They’ve come a long way from ’60s mod. Flirty, flowing fabrics, soft cottons and tunic-length sweaters can be paired with a fitted pant or legging and accessorized with a heel or knee-length boot. Just make sure to keep your proportions intact:
* To keep length in the legs, petite moms should avoid wearing tunics that are too long.
* Tunics should hit about mid thigh to give a good proportion between the torso and legs.
* Straight or skinny jeans work great with most tunic styles. Avoid baggy pants that create a bulky bottom half.
Wear a statement
With the kids back in school, you may just have a little peace and quiet at home. Check out the PeaceLoveMom line of trendy T-shirts. We define it.” The colorful T-shirts range in price from about $25 to $45 and come in “hip mom” burnout fabric and soft jersey cotton V-neck and crew-neck styles. Fuller-cut sizing is also available.
