Share Your Love of N.C. Strawberries on Video to Win Gift Cards
One of life’s simple and most succulent pleasures is gathering strawberries warm from the field on a sunny day. When my children had barely begun to walk, I’d take them to pick strawberries at area farms. They reveled in the seemingly endless rows of fruits, just at their height. Finding the red treasures hidden by fuzzy green leaves was a game, a natural delight. As the years past, they never outgrew the taste of being outdoors with bees buzzing and the perfume of smashed fruit underfoot, hunting strawberries. The outings continue.
If you’re a fan of North Carolina strawberries, now’s the time to come out of hiding and proclaim your affection. The North Carolina Strawberry Association (NCSA) is running a contest that invites the public to capture on video their love of strawberries during the 2012 strawberry season. Winners earn $100 gift cards, along with the chance for videos to go viral on the N.C. Strawberry Association’s YouTube channel. (Photo below courtesy of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture)
To enter, you’ll make a 2- to 3-minute video that shows the importance of choosing locally grown North Carolina strawberries. You could talk about picking, eating, buying or using strawberries in creative ways. Submissions for the following four video categories are due by 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2012:
- TV Commercial – A 30-second or 60-second advertisement promoting N.C. Strawberries.
- Your visit to a North Carolina Strawberry Farm – Creatively capture video highlights of your visit to a N.C. Strawberry Farm.
- Using North Carolina Strawberries – Show what you do with the strawberries you pick or buy.
- Other – A video submission that does not fit in any other category.
If you’re thinking of filming a visit to a pick-your-own farm, you won’t have to go far to find one as you’ll see in our listing of Triangle-Area Strawberry Farms.
In order for a submitted video to be considered, you must first subscribe to the NCSA’s YouTube channel. Go to www.youtube.com/ncstrawberry or search “NCStrawberry, channel” on YouTube and simply click subscribe. Then, follow one of two ways to submit videos: Email the video link along with the required information listed in the contest rules to email@example.com or submit the video and required information through YouTube messages.
