Has having children left you a fashionista without a designer wardrobe budget? Then you may want to make a short drive to My Overstock Boutique in Mebane. It’s literally a “wearhouse” full of designer fashions and accessories from more than 250 boutiques across the country. “Our 7,800-square-foot warehouse is chock full of literally thousands of pieces of new designer ladies clothing. That’s probably enough clothing to fill your favorite boutique about five times,” owner Meg Thomas states on her website.

You’ll recognize many of your favorite brands, including Betsey Johnson, Kate Spade, Free People, Michael Kors and much more. Located at 828 Trollingwood Hawfields Rd. in Mebane, the boutique also sells items online. Visit www.myoverstockboutique.com.

Take a Walk on the Skinny Side

If you have a teenager in the house — or even if you don’t — chances are you’ve heard about fashion’s newest invention, the jegging. If not, think of a skinny jean that fits like a legging. Most are made of cotton denim with a little bit of stretch fabric such as Lycra to get that smooth, streamlined silhouette.

And, yes, moms can wear them if they follow a couple simple style tips:

Choose a darker wash, which is more slimming and dressier.

Pair them with a long sweater, tunic top or even a blazer that covers the hip area. Jeggings also look great with boots.

Get a dressier look by pairing with a mini dress and high heels.

If you never caught on to the idea of leggings the first (or second or third) time around, maybe this is the time to give the look a try!

T-Shirt Style with Substance

The creators of a new line of T-shirts say that a woman’s beauty isn’t measured only by what she wears. “A woman’s true beauty can be measured by her compassion for the world around her,” say Scott Andersen and Brittany Via, who launched Project Iris this fall, with plans to donate a portion of the sales of their graphic tees to the World Food Program USA.

The funds will benefit new mothers and their children in poverty-stricken areas of the world.

The line is made in the U.S. and features both 100-percent cotton and 50/50 polyester and cotton blend tees with colorful, feminine and trendy graphics. They range in price from $36 to $50.
