Ring in 2022!

10, 9, 8,…3, 2, 1! Happy New Year! New beginnings, new resolutions, and new memories are around the corner for 2022. Before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s back up to New Year’s Eve and suggest a splendid way to get the New Year started on the right foot…WRAL First Night Raleigh presented by Artsplosure! Join in on the family-fun, live performances, fireworks, and Acorn Drop all day and night long (2pm-12am) on Friday, Dec. 31 in downtown Raleigh. Let’s ring in the New Year!

Children’s Celebration

Get your comfy shoes on and be ready for a full-day of celebrations. First, things will kick off at 2pm with the Children’s Celebration around the Bicentennial Plaza and inside NC Museum of History and NC Museum of Natural Sciences. At the same time, the Disco Roller Rink and Funky Ferris Wheel will open their gates. The former can be found in the middle of Fayetteville St. and Morgan St. Bring your own skates or rent them for a groovy time. The latter will be spinning at the center of Fayetteville St. and West Hargett St. Plan your ferris wheel ride accordingly in the hopes of catching a bird’s eye view of the kid’s Acorn Drop and fireworks at 7pm. Otherwise, join the People’s Procession at 6pm and be a part of the action on the ground.

Other Activities & Late Night Fun

At 6-12pm, City Plaza will transform into a live music hub. In addition, check out the art installation Chimes by Collectif Blackbox in the same area. Change things up from 8-11pm and go on a picturesque horse-drawn sleigh ride, courtesy of Gold Leaf Carriages. Among all the fun, make sure to set your alarm for 11:59pm when the countdown for the New Year will commence. At midnight the Acorn will drop, fireworks will light, and 2022 will be here! Cheers!
