Back to school means brand-new — or recently remodeled — schools for some Triangle students. The state’s largest school system, Wake County Public School System, has a current enrollment of 157,180, which represents a 36 percent increase over 10 years. To help accommodate this growth, the system will open one new middle school in July and four new elementary schools in August 2016.

WCPSS will also unveil one newly remodeled school in August 2016, when students and staff at Green Leadership and World Languages Elementary School will return to a brand new facility at Six Forks Road and Snelling Street in North Raleigh. The school’s students and teachers have been in swing space on Spring Forest Road for two years while their old school was being replaced.

A new Wake County-based private school facility is also set to open.
