Marbles Kids Museum Encourages Fitness With Power2Play Exhibit

Get moving and learn how to stay healthy at Power2Play, an exhibit at Marbles Kids Museum in Raleigh designed to promote fun and fitness for the whole family. Power2Play, which opened in November, offers families the opportunity to stay physically active during the colder winter months in an indoor play environment. It's the cornerstone exhibit of the museum's "Be Healthy, Be Active" initiative, which encourages fitness fun and healthy choices for kids of all ages.

Skate at Center Ice, a synthetic hockey rink, or take a turn with the microphone at the announcer's booth to broadcast live action from the rink. Shoot baskets inside a giant basketball net at Center Court or shake and groove at Tumble 'n Twirl. Children younger than 3 can play ball with other little leaguers in a safe play zone.

Aside from offering fun ways to exercise as a family, Power2Play also teaches healthy eating habits. The Healthy Kitchen includes a prep-and-serve kitchen area where kids can put pretend healthy foods on their plate.

While at the museum, visitors can also watch a film on the giant Wells Fargo IMAX Theatre, stretch imaginations and build machines at IdeaWorks, or learn ways to spend and save money at Moneypalooza. All exhibits are designed so children can learn through play and self-led exploration.

Admission to Marbles Kids Museum is $5 per person. Located at 201 E. Hargett St. in Raleigh, the museum is open Tuesday-Saturday,

9 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, noon-5 p.m. For more information, visit or call 919-834-4040.
