Lucy Daniels Book Club Promotes Kids’ Emotional Growth

O Bb Mother Reading To Daughter 001

Launched in May 2009, the Lucy Daniels Book Club is a free community outreach program for Wake County children from infancy to 6 years and their parents. The club supports healthy social and emotional growth in young children by encouraging parents to read books to children that approach important developmental themes in a safe and reassuring way. Visit Lucysbookclub.org for more information.

The current Lucy’s Book Club (LBC) theme is Knowing My Feelings. The theme later this spring is Coping with New Experiences (available May 2011).

In May, LBC will again present Bookmarked!, a two-week celebration of reading with children, featuring free readings by local celebrity-heroes and appearances by award-winning children’s author-illustrator Molly Bang.

The second year of LBC is funded by presenting sponsor Cargill and the Cargill Foundation and by platinum sponsors The Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation and Time Warner Cable.

The Lucy Daniels Center for Early Childhood is a nationally recognized model for childhood mental health education and services. For more information, visit www.lucydanielscenter.org.
