Ride the Wild West Train at Northgate Mall in Durham

Pint-sized train lovers will be thrilled to learn that Northgate’s train is returning to the mall’s Center Court with an American Western theme, starting Friday, June 23, and continuing through Sunday, Sept. 17. Rides are available noon-7 p.m., Thursdays-Saturdays, and 1-5 p.m., Sundays, at Northgate Mall in Durham. Tickets are $3 per child. 

Tour Burt’s Bees Founder’s Cabin at American Tobacco Campus in Durham FREE

In celebration of National Pollinator Week, natural skin care giant Burt’s Bees is offering tours of the iconic cabin of late co-founder Burt Shavitz, relocated from rural Maine to the company’s headquarters in Durham. Tours of the 300-square-foot cabin — a converted turkey coop that reflects Burt’s quiet, uncomplicated life in nature — will take place 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Thursday, June 22, and Friday, June 23, at the American Tobacco Campus in downtown Durham. Free. Enjoy a virtual tour online anytime.

Blueberry Music Festival at Vollmer Farm in Bunn

Enjoy all things blueberry plus food trucks, live music and more at Vollmer Farm’s third annual Blueberry Festival. Kids will love the Back-40 Country Playground featuring a giant jumping pillow, underground slide, goat walk, racer barrels and more. The festival takes place 2-10 p.m., Saturday, June 24, at Vollmer Farm in Bunn. Purchase tickets online for $15; kids age 12 and younger are admitted for free.

“The Peanuts Movie” at Durham Central Park FREE

Bring the whole family for a viewing of “The Peanuts Movie” under the stars. Part of Durham’s “Rock the Park” summer concert and movie series, this event takes place 8:30-10:30 p.m., Saturday, June 24, at Durham Central Park in downtown Durham. Admission is free. Attendees should bring their own lawn chair/blanket. Food vendors will be on site.

Touch A Truck at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park FREE

In conjunction with local public safety agencies, the Durham Bulls are hosting their first Touch A Truck event, featuring more than 15 vehicles such as an investigations truck, hazardous materials unit, rescue truck and more. Children of all ages can touch and explore vehicles of their choice, while also learning about the vehicles, as well as the employees who operate them. This event takes place 3-5 p.m., Sunday, June 25, along Blackwell Street outside the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in downtown Durham. Touch A Truck is free; purchase tickets to the 5:05 p.m. game against the Charlotte Knights online or at the gate.
