Shop for fresh, local produce and handmade North Carolina gifts by dropping by a farmers market in Raleigh, Durham or one of the Triangle's many suburbs. Some markets are open year-round, but most operate seasonally or with seasonal hours. Here's a guide to farmers markets across the region.
The Apex Farmers Market is open mid-April through mid-October every Saturday morning, rain or shine, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. You'll find fresh, local organic and conventional fruits and vegetables, pastured and sustainably farmed chicken, beef and pork, fresh farm eggs, baked goods and more. Bring your own bags and cash in small bills if you can. Check the website for important dates and special market events, including select weekend closures for local festivals. The Carrboro Farmers Market is open Saturdays year round (Nov.-March, the market is open 9 a.m.-noon; April 6- Oct. 26, the market is open 7 a.m.-noon. The market is open Wednesdays seasonally from Apr. 10-Oct. 30, 3-6 p.m. Shop for fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, poultry, cheeses, eggs, flowers, plants, handmade crafts and specialty items, including grain products, pastries, wines and honey. The Cary Downtown Farmers Market is open April through November on Saturdays, 8 a.m.-noon, rain or shine; and December through March on Saturdays, 9 a.m.-noon. Enjoy shopping from a wide variety of vendors who sell soaps and body products, bakery products, fruits, vegetables, coffee, dairy products, dog treats, herbs, candles, beer, wine, meats, eggs, pottery and more. The Chapel Hill Farmers Market is open April through November on Saturdays, 8 a.m.-noon; and on Tuesdays, 3-6 p.m. The market is open for winter hours December-March on Saturdays, 9 a.m.-noon. Shop for fruits, vegetables, cakes and confections, beef, poultry, eggs, quilting and fleece products, coffee, lamb, goat, cut flowers, herbs, sewn and embroidered products, music, cheeses, seafood, beer, jams, mushrooms and more. Southern Village Farmers' Market is open on select dates. It not only features vendors, but also offers vegan/gluten free-food prepare and sold by Soul Coucina Triangle. Clayton Farm and Community Market is open year round: The regular season begins the first Saturday in April and ends the last Saturday in October and is from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.; the winter season is every other Saturday from November through March from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Clayton Farm and Community Market offers fresh, locally grown produce. Most of the products come from within 100 miles of Clayton. Craft vendors are also local and must make their products themselves. 348 E. Main St., Clayton.
The Durham Farmers Market is open April 6-Nov. 23 on Saturdays, 8 a.m.-noon; and April 17-Oct. 9 on Wednesdays, 3-6 p.m. Winter hours are Saturdays, Dec.7, 2019-March 28, 2020, 10 a.m.-noon. Vendors offer a variety of products, including fruits and vegetables, wines, jellies and other preserves, greeting cards, photography, flowers, house plants, dairy and cheese products, meat products, breads and related products, baked goods, nut butters, eggs, popcorn and candy, coffee, tea, dog treats, craft beer, honey, candles, crafts, gluten-free products, ice cream, soaps and more! The South Durham Farmers Market is open year-round April through October on Saturdays, 8 a.m.-noon, rain or shine; and November through March on Saturdays, 9 a.m.-noon. Shop for trees and landscaping plants, fruits and vegetables, beef, pork, lamb, poultry, honey, eggs, soaps and cleaners, dog treats, cut flowers, herbs, pasta, vermiculture products, bakery items, pickled and jellied items, tobacco, candles, skin care, fragrance products and more. Eno River Farmers' Market is open April through November on Saturdays, 8 a.m.-noon; and December through March, 10 a.m.-noon. It offers farm fresh produce, cheeses, meat, eggs, baked goods, prepared foods, and crafts from local growers and producers. Check website for fun events throughout the year. The Hillsborough Farmers Market is open April through October, 8 a.m.-noon; and November through March, 10 a.m.-noon. Find cheeses, meats, eggs, birdhouses, woodworking products, furniture, crafts, fruits and vegetables, herbs, ornamental plants, oils and soaps, baked goods (including gluten-free options), seedlings, flowers, canned and pickled foods, composting bins, rain barrels and more. The Holly Springs Farmers Market is open May through mid-October every Saturday, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; and November through April on the first and third Saturdays of each month, 9:30 a.m.-noon. The Farmers Market at Fearrington is open on Tuesdays beginning early April through the Tuesday before Thanksgiving from 4-6 p.m. It offers fruits and vegetables, pizza made from local ingredients, meats, eggs, flowers, canned and baked goods and more. 2000 Fearington Village Center, Pittsboro.
The Pittsboro Farmers' Market is open year-round on Thursdays, 3-6 p.m. It offers fresh, locally grown produce, pasture-raised meats, baked goods, jams, jellies, pickles, wine, goat cheese, eggs, cut flowers, bedding plants, hanging baskets, perennials and more. The Midtown Farmers' Market is open for the 2019 season April 13-Nov. 2 on Saturdays, 8 a.m.-noon; and November through mid-April, 10 a.m.-noon. Find fruits and vegetables, soaps and bath products, baked goods, crafts, herbs, jewelry, frozen pops, meat, eggs, sweets, dog treats, flowers, houseplants, coffee, baked products, cheese, clothing and much more. The State Farmers Market is open year-round, Monday-Saturday, 5 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sunday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. You'll find restaurants and vendors offering a wide variety of produce, plants, meats, cheeses, crafts, bakery items, architectural elements, custom picture framing, a market grill, North Carolina wines, specialty shops featuring old-fashioned candles, North Carolina gifts, soaps and lotions. 1201 Agriculture St., Raleigh.
Crabtree Valley Mall will host Farm Fresh Fridays starting Friday, May 10 until October. This new farmers’ market will run every Friday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and will feature seasonal products sourced from North Carolina, primarily from local farms and producers in the Triangle. Guests are invited to beat the weekend farmers’ market rush and make their Fridays fresh! The market will be located at Crabtree Valley Mall’s outdoor breezeway adjacent to the Food Court on the second level. 4325 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612.
The Campus Farmers Market at North Carolina State University is open on Wednesdays, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. This completely-student run market consists of vendors who sell local goods and services. Located in the Brickyard in front of D.H. Hill Library, 2306 Hillsborough St., Raleigh.
Plantation Point Farmers Market is open every Saturday, year-round, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., rain or shine. Vendors reside and produce products within a 125-mile radius of the market. 6250 Plantation Center Drive, Suite 107, Raleigh.
The Downtown Raleigh Alliance Market is getting a new name and location! The Downtown Raleigh Alliance and the City of Raleigh have partnered to bring a new farmers market — Moore Street Market — to Downtown Raleigh in the newly renovated Moore Square Park. The Market will launch on Wednesday, June 5 from 4-7 p.m. in the historic City Market adjacent to Moore Square. City Market will host the Market through June 26, 2019. Beginning on July 3, 2019, the Market will transition to Moore Square Market each Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. through October 16, 2019. The Market will feature over 20 vendors along with entertainment, educational programming, and special events.
The Saturday Market at Rebus Works is open on Saturdays, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., rain or shine. The market brings together farmers, bakers, craftspeople, designers, coffee carts, food trucks and brewers. 301 Kinsey St., Raleigh.
Wake Forest Farmers Market is open year-round April through October on Saturdays, 8 a.m.-noon; and November through March on Saturdays, 10 a.m.-noon. Find knitted goods, flowers, produce, chicken and duck eggs, meat, mushrooms, honey, soap, furniture, cheeses, gluten-free baked goods, seafood, pastas and sauces, hair accessories, garden sculptures and planters, candles, baskets, jams, and more. 235 S. Wendell Farmers Market is open mid-May through October on Saturdays, 8 a.m.-noon. It features jams, jellies, breads, honey, eggs, fruits and vegetables, pottery, and crafts. 3700 Wendell Blvd., Wendell (on the corner of Wendell Boulevard and Pine Street).
The Farm Fresh Market is open April through October on Saturdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. It offers produce, free-range poultry and eggs, pasture pork, honey, baked goods, pastries, jams, jellies, relishes, pickles, sauces, homemade soaps, handcrafted soy candles, fresh herbs, ornamental plants, vegetable plants, artwork and more.
