VIRginia International Raceway welcomes back HyperFEST, the National Auto Sport Association’s annual motorsports festival presented by Grassroots Motorsports Magazine, May 17-19 — and we have four single-day passes up for grabs to this this action-packed weekend of fun for the whole family!

Now in its 18th year, HyperFEST features road racing, drifting, karting, multiple live music performances and more. The three-day event schedule includes the Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge, presented by Grassroots Motorsports, as a highlight of the weekend. The annual no-holds-barred challenge will take place Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18, and aims to find the fastest machines on four wheels — some boasting 1000 horsepower.

Racing fans can also put their own cars to the test with the opportunity to drive on VIR’s 3.27-mile road course, complete with 17 challenging turns and 130 feet of elevation changes, during the National Auto Sport Association’s weekend-long High Performance Driving Event. Additionally, visitors can try their hand at high performance driving during a 20-minute HyperDrive on the roller coaster-like Patriot Circuit.

New this year, enjoy three stages of live music Friday and Saturday. The music schedule is jampacked with a lineup of artists, many from Virginia, performing genres representing "dubstep," rock and everything in between. The stages include a main stage, Impulse collective sound camp stage and Ebisu sound camp stage located throughout the property. Additionally, this will be the first year the event includes food trucks, updated camping packages and Grassroots Motorsports experience packages, which offer attendees the opportunity to experience a variety of activities throughout the HyperFEST weekend at one price.

“HyperFEST is a one-of-a-kind event with so much to offer nearly every type of motorsports fan,” says Connie Nyholm, owner and CEO of VIR. “The automotive amusement park gives visitors three full days of family fun, including high-speed racing, electrifying musical performances, spectator games and much more. It’s a weekend at the track fans do not want to miss!”

HyperFEST will also include ride-along options with racing champions, in rally cars and off-roaders; drifting events and ride-alongs with Formula Drift Champion, Vaughn Gittin Jr; helicopter rides; off-road obstacle courses; burnout contests; a kids zone; a car show; a vendor midway; a Paul Reed Smith air guitar contest; and the fan-favorite Koni Power Wheels downhill attack competition, sponsored by Red Line Synthetic Oil, where participants 18 and older can race downhill to the finish line in motor-less Power Wheel cars.

“HyperFEST is THE car party on the East Coast. We love all things cars and all those that love cars. People travel from all over the United States to HyperFEST because it is the only event like it in the country,” says Chris Cobetto, HyperFEST founder and director. “VIR’s expansive property and premier racing facilities make it the perfect place to host this incredible event, and we’re ecstatic to be back. We can’t wait for fans to experience all HyperFEST has to offer this year!”

Advanced tickets for the HyperFEST weekend are $50 for three-day general admission. All tickets will be an additional $10 when purchased at the gate. Children ages 12 and younger are admitted free of charge with a paying adult, and parking is also free. Active military are admitted free of charge and veterans receive a 50% discount with a valid military ID. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit virnow.com or call 434-822-TIKS.
