Durham’s Partnership for Children and Durham Public Schools are hosting a Kindergarten Registration Celebration Thursday, March 24, 5-8 p.m., at Hillside High School for parents to register kids for kindergarten, get questions answered and schedule a kindergarten health assessment appointment.

The event will offer family fun and culminates a week-long effort to enroll eligible kindergartners and help children and families get ready for school. Kids who register for kindergarten at the event will get free prizes. (Children eligible for kindergarten must be age 5 by Aug. 31, 2016.) If you’ve already registered your child for kindergarten, you’re invited to celebrate with other families. Hillside High School is located at 3727 Fayetteville Road and is on the following bus routes: number 5, number 5K and number 7.

Head to the celebration for:

  • Food trucks: Dang Good Dogs and Captain Cookie & the Milk Man
  • Face painting, bubbles, balloon animals and other fun activities
  • Games and crafts with Scrap Exchange
  • Destination Literacy, Durham County Library Bookmobile
  • An opportunity to see and touch a fire truck and meet firefighters

Note that Durham Public Schools bilingual staff  and volunteers will be on hand to help parents who don’t speak English, and all registration forms/materials are available in both English and Spanish.
