Diaper Bank Launches in Durham

Fyi Community Baby In Diapers

The Diaper Bank of North Carolina, a nonprofit Durham-based organization, has launched with a mission to ensure that every child in North Carolina has enough diapers to remain clean, dry and healthy. The organization is accepting diaper donations and will soon post details for how and where to donate on its website, diaperbanknc.org. For now, contact Michelle Olds at shallfish@earthlink.net to make a donation.

The organization also plans to partner with churches, schools and other civic groups to organize diaper drives and collect diapers for emergency kits.

The diaper bank seeks to raise community awareness about its mission, to advocate for policy reform so diapers are included in the definition of and provision for “basic human needs,” and to create a model that can be shared and replicated by all North Carolina counties to create additional diaper banks.
