Keep food safety in mind when preparing your holiday meals this year. Here are some guidelines for safe cooking:

165 degrees: The internal temperature of safely cooked turkey and chicken (maintaining this temperature helps prevent food poisoning).

160 degrees: The internal temperature of safely cooked egg dishes.

145 degrees: The internal temperature of safely cooked beef, veal and lamb (steak, roasts and chops).

145 degrees: The internal temperature of safely cooked fresh pork and ham (precooked ham needs to reach an internal temperature of 140 degrees).
