Medical professionals, first responders, restaurant workers, grocery store employees and others whom we all depend on to keep local services in place during the pandemic have options regarding child care.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) is providing financial assistance to help essential workers afford child care during the COVID-19 crisis.

The North Carolina Child Care Health and Safety Resource Center has established a hotline for essential workers with an urgent need to find high-quality, safe child care.

These providers are offering free or low-cost child care for essential employees. This list will be updated as new options become available.

  • Bright Horizons at Harrison Park in Cary is offering care through June 19. The center will operate with special COVID-19 protocols in place, including limited capacity and small group sizes, enhanced teacher:child ratios, and intensive hygiene and cleaning practices. Care will be available at no cost to frontline healthcare workers who have limited access to quality child care.
  • Guidepost Montessori at Spruce Tree in Raleigh will provide Montessori programming creating a serene and calm environment for children while diligently following safety and sanitization requirements and recommendations given by the CDC.
  • YMCA of the Triangle is offering YMCA Camp Hope through May 15 for essential personnel at locations convenient to area hospitals throughout the Triangle.

Please email TriangleNCBlogger@gmail.com with details about other free child care offerings for essential workers to have them added to this list.
