Best and Worst States for Working Dads

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 93 percent of dads with kids younger than age 18 are in the U.S. labor force.

In a recent analysis of 20 key metrics, ranging from day care quality to male life expectancy, researchers for the website WalletHub measured economic well-being, child-rearing environments, work-life balance and health conditions in the 50 states and the District of Columbia. The state of North Carolina ranked 31st overall. Minnesota ranked first and the state of Nevada ranked 51st in the list.

Here is a breakdown of the rankings for North Carolina:

  • Economic and social well-being                    54th
  • Work-life balance                                           39th
  • Child care                                                       30th
  • Health                                                            22nd
