Be Your Best: Explore the Mind-Body Connection

Part of the goal of the Fit Family Challenge is to help families come together to be the best they can be. With the Spotlight Families, fitness and nutrition goals are set, and they have support and guidance to help them in reaching their goals. This support is a great help, but it is also important that they are coming from a happy, healthy space, so clearing out any negative patterns can be really beneficial.

Whenever anyone is trying to make changes, it is important to remember that you are the creator of the life you design for yourself. It is never too late to make changes and become who and what you want to be. Coming from a healthy space can be really beneficial whenever you are ready to begin something different. You have way more control over what shows up in your life than you may think. By changing thought patterns, you can shift how you see each situation. Shifting to a more positive mindset is something anyone can do. You have more control than you think. You choose how you allow anything and everything to affect you.  

To become more positive, it helps to let go of past hurt, anger or frustration that is showing up for you. Is there a place where you can offer forgiveness and let some things go to clear out the old, negative feelings? If you hold on to things and allow them to affect you, it hampers you, not anyone else. Forgiveness is the key to letting go and moving on.

How you feel about yourself plays an important part in your internal happiness as well. When you feel good inside, it leads to optimal health and wellness. If you are struggling with this, how can you learn to love and accept yourself exactly where you are on your journey right now? Is there a way to appreciate what the past has taught you, embrace the present and be positive about the future? How others treat you and how you treat yourself can be a direct reflection of how you feel about yourself, so doing the work from the inside out is really important.

It may seem strange to think about doing internal work to create a more healthy eating and exercise regiment, but when you feel good about yourself on the inside, you will be more apt to take care of every part of you. Overall health and wellness is truly the goal and that means each part of you: mind, body and soul.
