Earth Day Celebrations

Enjoy sustainability activities, an art market and live entertainment at the Earth Day Festival April 19, noon-5 p.m. Update: Note that due to inclement weather this week and muddy conditions on the field at Rock Quarry Park, the festival will be moved indoors. All activities will be held at Holton Career and Resource Center on 401 N. Driver St. Most festivities will take place as scheduled except the Earth Day Parade and bike valet. Earth Fair on the Brickyard at N.C. Cary’s Earth Day Celebration is part of the town’s Spring Daze Arts and Crafts Festival April 25, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., in Bond Park. Fitness-minded families can register online to race in the Earth Day 5K and Kids Dash April 25, 9 a.m., in the Briar Chapel neighborhood of Chapel Hill. Mebane Dogwood Festival

Welcome spring at the 27th Annual Mebane Dogwood Festival April 24-25. Live entertainment, carnival rides and more than 100 craft and food vendors light up the downtown streets Friday, 6-10 p.m., and all day Saturday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. The Dogwood Festival Car Show, showcasing dozens of makes and models, is Saturday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Learn more at mbamebane.com.
