Remember Sydney McCoy, the fifth-grader at Baucom Elementary School in Apex with a talent for cooking that is propelling her to fame? I interviewed her in March because she landed a filming on the Rachael Ray show, in New York, after submitting a video cooking demo. You can watch her at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, in the opening segment on the Rachael Ray Show on ABC11-WTVD, which will feature “an hour of tips from pint-sized pros.” See her promo for the show here.

While the show is being aired, Sydney won’t be at home watching, though. She’ll be in London because she earned a free trip to the 2012 Olympic Games, after she and her dad, Dave, were named finalists in McDonald’s Happy Meal Chefs Contest. The duo won the trip thanks to their family’s healthy eating habits. The McDonald’s contest they entered solicited inspiring stories from families who enjoy cooking with wholesome ingredients at mealtime.
