If you're considering a magnet school for your child, be sure to put the 2017 Durham Public Schools Magnet Fair on your calendar. Students and teachers will show off their schools’ unique programs — from performing arts to engineering to medicine — at the fair, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 4, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Southern School of Energy and Sustainability, 800 Clayton Rd., Durham.

Prospective parents and students can check out the 23 magnet programs and high school career-technical education pathways while talking to DPS experts about the application process, transportation and more.

Elementary schools and DPS departments will be downstairs in the cafeteria, which will be a high-activity area. Middle and high schools will be in the front lobby and gymnasium. Signs will be posted.

Parents, if you plan to attend, please note that you do not have to be first in line to attend the fair Saturday morning. It's a floating event, so arrive any time between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. All fair visitors will be required to enter Southern School of Energy and Sustainability’s campus through the Clayton Road entrance, and exit through the Freeman Road entrance.
