Youth Yoga in the Park

Looking for yoga but for younger folks? Youth Yoga is available too. On May 1st & 8th, ages 7-14 year olds will master their “Cat-Cow” and “Child’s Pose” on the Williams Field. The 10:00am slot is for 7-10 year olds, while the 11:00am slot is for 11-14 year olds.

Durham Bulls’ First Home Game of Season
500 W. Corporation St., Durham
The storied Triple-A affiliate of Major League Baseball’s Tampa Bay Rays plays their first home game on May 11 against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. Single-game tickets will be available on a month-by-month basis as their 919 Club and ticket package holders get first access. Please note: face coverings are required to be worn at the DBAP, unless eating or drinking. Be sure to check out this especially cheeky shirt in the shop.

Town Hall Drive, Morrisville
From 2-6pm, the town of Morrisville will shut down Town Hall Drive and celebrate spring. Food trucks like Virgil’s Jamaica and Fatboy’s Kitchen will be dotting the street amongst other entertainment. Due to Covid-19, they are offering a new twist on the running race. Register for the virtual 5k or 7-mile race instead of the standard road race.

Exhibit: Toy Boom!
“The baby-boomer years were a time of more in America… including more toys,” says Katie Edwards, the curator of popular culture at the North Carolina Museum of History. “We created this exhibit to help North Carolinians reflect on their paths from childhood to adulthood, including the toys that paved the way.” Toy Boom’s artifacts are “curated into unique environments, including TV westerns, space age, zany toys, creative toys, dolls, action figures and more.”

Exhibit: Golden Mummies of Egypt
North Carolina Museum of Art, 2110 Blue Ridge Rd., Raleigh
This exhibit showcases eight mummies and explores Ancient Egypt and the era’s conceptions of life and the afterlife. “The exhibition journey traces expectations for the afterlife and introduces cultural constructions of identity, strikingly demonstrated by the haunting painted panel portraits,” the museum says.
