"What's for dinner?"

At the end of a long day, when your stomach is growling, and the kids are hungry, the question can be stressful. It's hard to get a tasty, nutritious meal on the table, if you haven't planned ahead. If you're like me, you might be eating breakfast for dinner. Not a bad option, but not one you'll want to repeat night after night.

Some parents have come up with quick dinner solutions that work for their families. If you have some, share them with us on Facebook. One great suggestion that came in is to place beef tips in the crock pot in the morning,  (use crock pot liner for clean up) and cook rice in the microwave. To cut time and effort, tyou could also try these shortcuts, resources and tips that help you get dinner on the table in a hurry without compromising flavor or nutrition. From the latest in slow cookers to cookbooks with weekly meal plans and grocery shopping guides, you'll gain ideas to step out of the weekday dinner slump. Recipes in the cookbooks run the gamut from $5 one-dish dinners to exotics like Mango Chicken Curry Bake.

But let's face it; sometimes you just don't have energy to do anything. On those days, consider these Triangle-area companies and chefs that help you turn up quick, nutritious meals. The resource list comes from a local mom who rounded up a variety of services to help parents who have a range of budgets. You'll find links to personal chefs, companies that feature meal preparation, takeout options, and gourmet and specialty stores where you can pick up pre-made, healthy food.
