Meet, Mingle, Network at Women@Work Breakfast Sept. 27
Written by: Odile Fredericks
Ready for a refreshing break from your daily routine? Step out to our Women@Work Breakfast and Coffee & Connections event this Thursday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at American Tobacco's Bay 7 in Durham. You'll find a fun and informative gathering of people who care about working families. Register for the Women@Work Breakfast by noon on Sept. 26 at this link.
Kick off the day at the Coffee & Connections networking hour between 8 and 9 a.m. when you can meet other professionals, visit vendor tables and register for exclusive door prizes. Following Coffee & Connections, the Women@Work Breakfast features a talk by nationally acclaimed author Elissa Schappell on identity myths and truths facing contemporary women. Shappell is a contributing editor for Vanity Fair magazine, is the author of Blueprints for Building Better Girls, which appeared on the Wall Street Journal's list of Best Books of 2011, and was nominated for the PEN/Hemmingway Award for her first book Use Me.
Our 2012 Women@Work Breakfast will also honor our 2012 NC Family-Friendly 50 Companies selected in partnership with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Kenan-Flagler Business School. The honorees are companies that offer flexibility, great benefits and programs that help parents juggle the demands of work and family. Discover who they are and the benefits they offer on our NC Family-Friendly 50 page, and come out to join in our tradition of cheering for them in person. For the past 14 years, Carolina Parenting, which owns Carolina Parent, has been recognizing family-friendly companies who are quietly transforming the landscape of family life across North Carolina. Their pioneering efforts bolster health, reduce stress and build a better future for generations to come.
Come to enjoy a delicious breakfast, mingle with old friends and make new ones. If you have a suit or other piece of professional clothing that you'd like to donate, please bring it with you. We'll be collecting garments for Dress for Success Triangle NC, who provides gently worn professional clothing to women in need of work attire. Our Women&Work Breakfast is sponsored by Duke University & Duke University Health System, Primrose Schools and Trinity School of Chapel Hill and Durham. See you there!
