Marmalade Gumdrops

Where I Live

An exhibit depicting children’s perspectives of Raleigh. Instructors and camp counselors from Pullen and Sertoma Arts Centers guided students through creating artworks ranging from cityscape collages to watercolor paintings of favorite Raleigh creatures. Magic School Bus Kicks Up a Storm

soundSpace: Hear Motion

A partnership between the Museum of Life and Science, Duke Engineering’s Visualization Technology Group and Duke’s Music Department results in an interactive sound and movement space where movement creates sounds based on images captured by a series of Web cameras. El Greco to Velázquez: Art During the Reign of Philip III

Dead Sea Scrolls

Six authentic Dead Sea scrolls are on display, and six others will replace them this month. They include fragments from several books of the Bible and the ancient Jewish book of Jubilees. Full translation and background information are provided for all scrolls.

In addition, the exhibit includes more than 100 artifacts from the ancient settlement of Qumran, located on the Dead Sea, close to the caves where the scrolls were discovered. The exhibit is made possible by the scholars of Israel and the curators and conservators of the Israel Antiquities Authority. Advance ticket purchase preferred. N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences, 11 W.
