Discover the unnatural history of cane toads and bullfrogs. Participate in the spider toss. Or make your own bat mask. The fun's at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences’ Natural History Halloween celebration on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m, in downtown Raleigh. Plus, it free!

Change your fears to fascination as you visit several stations, many with live animals, ranging from black widows and death’s head roaches to hognose snakes and blue-tongued skinks. Learn more about what it means to be nocturnal, see animals that look like dinosaurs, or find out the truth about wolves. Kids can make their own pastas snakes and turtle rattles at the craft table. Or buy pizza and baked treats to benefit the Museum’s Junior Curator program.

Kids 12 and under can also enter our costume contest by 3pm to vie for a prize. Buy or create your own costume to fit one of the following categories: I Belong in a Museum, Creatures of the Night, One of a Kind, Fantastically Fictional, Creepy and Crawly, and Three and Under. Extra points are awarded for creative, home-made costumes!
