A Hands-On Immersion into Artificial Intelligence
Durham NC Robots takes center stage at the Museum of Life and Science, in Durham, on Saturday, March 14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. when local and national expert and amateur robotics specialists exhibit a fascinating branch of artificial intelligence—robotics—the intersection of computer science and engineering that creates devices that can move and react to sensory input. Robot Rumble features a host of academic, private and automotive organizations sharing their passion for robotics technology and machine intelligence as they demonstrate the latest advancements in the field.
Participating Robot Rumble organizations include the Triangle Amateur Robotics Club, Orange County Schools FIRST Robotics Team 587, Lego and Dancing Robotics, NCSU's Underwater Robotics and others.
Museum visitors can meet members of Carolina Combat Robots and the Robot Fighting League and learn more about robotic combat competitions, see some exciting demos and play with and learn more about current and future innovations in the robotics field/
"Competitions for robots are gaining popularity across the country, attracting participation from amateurs, private industry, schools and research institutions. Robots compete at a wide range of tasks including destructive and non-destructive combat, fire-fighting maze solving, navigational exercises and many others. The Museum is excited to again showcase this wide range of amateur and experts demonstrating this fascinating branch of artificial intelligence," said Nancy Dragotta Muhl, Robot Rumble Event Coordinator.
The Museum of Life and Science is open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m; Sunday from Noon to 5 p.m. Admissions fees are Adults, $10.85; seniors and active military, $8.85; children ages 3-12, $7.85; and it's free for children under 3 .
