State Farmers Market hosts Spring Craft Fair

Publish On 03-13-2009 , 08:29

The State Farmers Market will get a jumpstart on spring one week early at its Spring Craft Fair, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, March 13 through Sunday, March 15. The event will be held at the Farmers Building of the market, at 1201 Agriculture St. If you're traveling by car, use Interstate 40, exit 297, Lake Wheeler Road.

More than 100 local crafters will showcase a variety of handmade crafts, including garden accessories, hand-woven baskets, spring floral arrangements, quilted items, crocheted baby blankets, stained glass, woodworking, pottery, candles, soaps, jewelry, handbags, furniture, hand-painted items and more. Admission and parking are free.

A fresh update on what else is out there:

Greenhouse tomatoes, strawberries, collards and sweet potatoes are now available at the market, along with plants, pecans, firewood, salsas and honey. The indoor Market Shoppes has a large selection of raised meats, cheeses, wine, jams and jellies, barbeque sauces and baked goods. Visitors to the Spring Craft Fair can also visit the State Farmers Market Restaurant, N.C. Seafood Restaurant, Nahunta Pork Center, Super Sod lawn supply center and Market Imports building.
