Giant flying turtle comes out of shell, saves schoolboys in shorty shorts
See the adorable and durable granddaddy mutant ninja turtle take on a walking boxcutter with an attitude when "Attack of the Monsters: Gamera vs Guillon" (1969) shows on the big screen of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 6. Free.
"Attack of the Monsters" follows the story of two precocious boys, Akio and Tom, who stumble upon a UFO and can't resist climbing in and pushing buttons. To everyone's amazement, the ship soon carries the boys into outer space only to land on our solar system's undiscovered tenth planet, Terra, whose two "groovy spacegirls" are all that remain of a once-superior alien civilization. The boys soon discover that their seemingly friendly hosts have an appetite for precocious brains. But never fear, Gamera, the giant flying turtle with a soft spot for children, comes to save them by battling the spacegirls' pet monster, Guillon, a giant beast with a razor-sharp steel blade for a head. This s the fifth entry in the Gamera series, a popular collection of daikaiju eiga (monster movies) produced by Daiei Motion Picture Company in Japan to rival the success of Toho Studios' Godzilla movies during the mid-to-late 1960s.
DON’T FORGET: Prepare your entry for the The Natural Horror Picture Show "Make Your Own Movie Trailer" Contest.
