Raleigh City Museum Presents: Two Views on the News: An Afternoon with Charlie Gaddy and Debra Morgan
Learn more about your favorite news anchors past and present with a his & hers perspective. Join Charlie Gaddy and Debra Morgan at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Raleigh City Museum as they share stories from their careers and talk about changes in the news industry.
Charlie Gaddy, a WRAL icon, retired in 1994 from the station after enjoying a 24-year career. Gaddy is well known for his coverage of the 1988 tornado in North Raleigh, various elections, as well as the fun of the North Carolina State Fair. Gaddy was also part of the first male-female anchor team in the 1980s with Bobbi Battista. Debra Morgan is another familiar and well-loved face of WRAL News. Debra is currently an evening news anchor, and has been with WRAL since 1993. Ms. Morgan has experienced many memorable moments over the course of her career including UNC Chapel Hill’s ACC victory in 1993, as well as being in the eye of Hurricane Bertha as it hit Wrightsville Beach in Wilmington.
Both Charlie and Debra are excited to share with the public highlights and stories from their careers with WRAL. They will also explore how the nature of media and the station have changed over time, and will be happy to answer questions from the audience. Come join Charlie Gaddy and Debra Morgan in celebrating the rich history and bright future of WRAL News. Admission is free.
