A group of students in western Wake County have planned a walk-a-thon July 15 at the Morrisville Park walking trail to raise funds for children being treated at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The group, called S.A.S. Helping Hearts, will also host a bake and snack sale, face painting, henna tattoos and a jump house

"We are a small team of middle and elementary school-age kids and we're trying to put smiles on the kids' faces who are sick by fulfilling their wish list, since not everyone is as fortunate and healthy as we are," says Rahul Bhatia, a rising fifth grader at Baucom Elementary in Apex.

The event starts at 8 a.m., and free drinks will be provided to all walk-a-thon participants. For more information, call Ashwin Punj at 919-386-1697.
