Morehead Planetarium and Science Center has collaborated with Paperhand Puppet Intervention to create The Longest Night: A Winter's Tale, which opens Nov. 3 at the planetarium. During this fable presentation, a young girl leaves her snowy village to embark on a quest that tests her courage and sparks her generous spirit. Will she be able to return as a hero?

Morehead Planetarium and Science Center's production team combined green-screen videography and other technologies with Paperhand Puppet Intervention's larger-than-life puppets to create the full-dome production. This is the first time these puppets have appeared in a 360-degree digital video performance. Paperhand Band provided music for the soundtrack.

The Longest Night: A Winter's Tale runs through Feb. 24. Show times are 11:30 a.m. on Saturdays and 2:30 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $7.25 for adults and $6 for children. Morehead Planetarium and Science Center is located at 250 E. Franklin St., Chapel Hill.
