If you've never been to the Museum of Life & Science, in Durham, now's the time to go, when it's a Buy-One Get-One free admission coupon valid through Sept. 15, 2011.

Whenever I've taken my kids, or visiting family and friends to the museum, we've always had a blast. Why? It's a place to see, do and connect with nature. It's all about interactive fun. The museum sits on an 84-acre science park that is a feast for little explorers. Some of the coolest things we've done there include watching a tornado form before our eyes, steering small sailboats in a pond, observing how wind moves over leaves in outdoor plants, banging on outdoor musical instruments to our heart's content, riding an open air train, and letting butterflies alight on our fingers while inhaling the smells of a tropical jungle. Did I mention the beautiful flowers in the tropical butterfly conservatory, which is one of the largest in the Southeast?

We've also enjoyed watching animals move, play, eat and sleep in the park, which is home to rescued black bears, endangered red wolves, exotic lemurs and more than 110 specifics of live animals. And I'm not alone. Carolina Parent readers voted it as the top museum to visit in the Triangle in our 2011 Familiy Favorites:Best Triangle Places to Visit.

Right about now, I'm regretting all the fun stuff that I planned to do, but never got done, with my kids this summer. But summer's not over yet! Here's an opportunity to head out while the savings are good.
