Celebrate Durham's African-American community June 16, 1-10 p.m., during the eighth annual Juneteenth Celebration in downtown Durham at the CCB Plaza. The event commemoratesthe end of slavery in the U.S.
A noon luncheon prior to the event is free for children ages 10-17. Register at spectacularmag.com. A Unity March begins at 2:30 p.m. and the festival, hosted by BET's Comic View comedian Grave Digger, starts at 3 p.m.
Kids will enjoy the children's village, and a food rodeo will accommodate a variety of food trucks. Vendors will sell clothing, specialty items and crafts. CCB Plaza is located at 201 N. Corcoran St., Durham.
