For many kids on traditional calendar, school's out for summer, and they're ecstatic! But for parents, the start of summer often means juggling new schedules, whether it's camp or day care, and finding activities to keep them excited about learning rather than bored at home.

This month, Carolina Parent has put together a list of area attractions and museums offering new exhibits that make learning fun this summer. Go back in time to discover dinosaurs, explore low-lying clouds and mist, celebrate Latino culture or join in scientific research into nature. See where you can take the kids to explore each of these areas and squeeze in some educational fun. Also, here are a slew of ideas for going on a cultural adventure close to home

We've also just released our readers' Family Favorites places for 2012. If you're hunting for the best spots in the Triangle to visit with your family, or get moving and be active, just take a look. You'll also find our readers' recommendations for favorite places for children's activities, from camps to classes to story times.

See our Summer Fun Guide for summer movie deals for families and low-cost or free outdoor summer concert series. You'll also find a listing of volunteer and service opportunities for Triangle families, teens and older youths, with an update of places looking for volunteers this summer! There's just no time to get bored this summer!
