North Carolina Snow Tube Parks Offer Fun Winter Family Getaways

Make it a snow-filled day of downhill fun at one of these snow-tube parks.

Published:

Hawksnest Snow Tubing park in Seven Devils offers more than 30 tubing lanes.

Is anyone in your house perfecting a snow dance this winter season? While your family eagerly awaits the first snowfall of the year in North Carolina, there are nearby winter wonderlands that already have snow waiting for you.

Here are four tubing-specific parks just a few hours away. Pack your winter coats, mittens and hats and get ready for downhill fun!

Know before you go: Many parks have age and/or height restrictions. All make their own snow, but may offer limited hours based on temperature or other weather conditions. Be sure to visit the park’s website or call ahead to confirm a fun, snow-filled day. While these parks don’t offer lodging, most are located near a variety of hotels.

Hawksnest Snow Tubing

2058 Skyland Drive, Seven Devils
828-963-6561
hawksnesttubing.com

Tubing rates: $27-$34 for a 1-hour-and-45-minute session

  • Approximate distance from the Triangle: Three hours, 30 minutes
  • Approximate distance from Charlotte: Two hours, 15 minutes
  • Approximate distance from the Triad: Two hours, 30 minutes

Spend time in four different tubing, and choose from more than 30 lanes, which are 400-1,000 feet long and professionally lit so you can tube into the evening hours. Rent a bib for $11 to stay warm and dry throughout the day.

Jonas Ridge Snow Tubing

N.C. 181 South, Jonas Ridge
(GPS: 9472 N.C. 181, Newland, North Carolina)

  • Approximate distance from the Triangle: Three hours, 30 minutes
  • Approximate distance from Charlotte: Two hours
  • Approximate distance from the Triad: Two hours, 30 minutes

Hop on the conveyor belt to travel up the hill, then ride down one of six lanes. The lanes vary in speed, with steep and fast available for the more daring snow tubers. Tube under the lights in the evening, then warm up inside by the fireplace.
