Summer Cinema
Grab a blanket and pack a picnic; warm summer nights in North Carolina are perfect for outdoor family film viewing. Lounge under the stars while you enjoy cartoons, classics and recent box-office hits at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh and the Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary. Both facilities show movies throughout the summer, June through August.
At the Koka Booth Amphitheatre, the “Movies by Moonlight” series runs on Thursday nights. Gates open at 7pm; films begin at 8pm. Adult admission is $3; kids under age 12 are free.
“Movies on the Lawn” at the North Carolina Museum of Art run on Fridays and Saturdays. Shows begin at 8:30pm or 9pm. Admission is free to NCMA members and children under age 5. All others, $3.
Picnics are welcome at both locations. Patrons may not bring alcohol to films at the museum. For film schedules and additional details:
