Amenities: When it comes to experience with babies, WakeMed leads the way with 45 years of experience in maternity care. WakeMed Women's Pavilion & Birthplace-Raleigh and Cary delivered 7,500 babies last year – more than any other healthcare system in Wake County. More than 5,000 of those babies made their entrance into the world at the WakeMed Women's Pavilion & Birthplace-Raleigh.
At WakeMed Women's Pavilion & Birthplace-Raleigh families will enjoy the home-like atmosphere in our newly remodeled private birthing suites. WakeMed also offers a flexible, family-centered approach to birthing. The birthing suites feature marble baths with tub and shower, a rocking chair, TV and sleep chair. A refreshment center is also accessible around the clock for new parents, and a late-night menu of prepared foods is available for moms who deliver in the middle of the night.
A beautifully painted Newborn Nursery is located right outside mom’s door, and the Level IV Intensive Care Nursery is just down the hall. Parents have peace of mind knowing the Intensive Care Nursery is staffed by a team of full-time neonatologists who specialize in caring for critically ill newborns and a highly skilled neonatology staff, including pediatric psychologists, child development specialists, speech language pathologists, registered nurses and PhD-level physical therapists.

Additional Comments: Wake County's most technologically advanced Intensive Care Nursery and the only Level III Nursery is located at WakeMed's New Bern Avenue campus. It has been chosen as one of only a few national Harvard-certified training sites in the country for specialists in infant development.

Because moms know they can trust Rex Family Birth Center staff to provide a warm, personal and nurturing environment offering an unmatched level of care and expertise. As the area’s most experienced Birth Center, Rex offers around-the-clock neonatology services for babies born with extra-special needs as well as on-site, around-the-clock anesthesiology services for moms (for pain relief)! And, Rex Lactation Services has board-certified lactation consultants to help new moms with breastfeeding needs. Rex Lactation Station, the Triangle’s only breastfeeding store, supplies moms and dads with everything they need. Above all, we believe in a family-centered approach to care and pride ourselves on working with families to make each family’s birth experience what they want it to be.
