Wake Libraries Debuts Children's Book Contest
Do you or your child love to write children's stories? Wake County Public Libraries is holding a children's book writing contest using Storybird, a secure online service where kids and families can create stories. Now through Wednesday, Aug. 31, people of all ages can create a story at Storybird and submit it on the Libraries' Facebook page.
Storybird users choose images and write the words to go along with them to make their own story to share. From Sunday, Aug. 7, through Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, anyone can vote for their favorite story from the Libraries' Facebook page. Votes will be totaled at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011. The winning book will have six copies printed and added to the libraries' collection, with an additional copy given to the winning author.
By uploading a Storybird, participants give permission to Wake County to prepare, use, publish and exhibit a story. Interested? You'll find details about Storybird and the writing contest, at www.wakegov.com/libraries or on Wake County Public Libraries' Facebook Page.
