More than 25,000 Wake County Public School System students in more than 30 schools learned to write code Dec. 7-11 as part of the international “Hour of Code” event, part of Computer Science Awareness week.
Hour of Code took place in 180 countries around the world. Its purpose is to inform educators about the importance of teaching computer science and to create awareness about the many jobs and opportunities available to students who learn code. To make code writing interesting, educators used tutorials that featured characters from “Star Wars,” “Minecraft,” “Frozen” and other films and video games. Learn more at hourofcode.org.
