More than 200 community volunteers joined forces with BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina, City of Durham Parks and Recreation and KaBOOM! to build a playground on Crest Street Aug. 24. The new public space provides a safe and accessible place for kids to play, and beautifies the city of Durham. Volunteers mixed 216 bags of concrete, moved 135 cubic yards of mulch and built 18 playground components in six hours.
KaBOOM! is a national nonprofit that creates play opportunities for children living in poverty. Learn more at keepdurhambeautiful.org.
