Fitness-minded families can take part in a 2-mile course at Your First Mud Run, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at ACA Home and School in Raleigh. The race features 10 obstacles designed for adults and kids ages 6 and older, including a mud pit, half-mile uphill run, climbing wall, bungee crawl and more. TABLE’s Empty Bowls – Oct. 15
Enjoy live Americana and bluegrass music and receive a meal of hearty soup, sandwich and a dessert, as well as a locally made pottery bowl, at the fifth annual Empty Bowls event, 3:30-7 p.m., on the Weaver Street Market Lawn in Carrboro. 'Inspiring Beauty: 50 Years of Ebony Fashion Fair' – Oct. 28-Jan. 21
See stunning ensembles created by some of the world’s best-known designers in an exhibit that explores the 50-year history of the Ebony Fashion Fair (1958-2009), a traveling fashion show that grew out of the pages of Ebony magazine, at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh. The show, which features the designs of Alexander McQueen, Pierre Cardin, Yves Saint Laurent and others, redefined the concepts of beauty, style and empowerment for thousands of African-American women. Admission is free.
