Jackson, an Orange County 17-year-old diagnosed with cystic fibrosis as a young child, received his wish of a four-day fishing excursion in the Florida Keys from Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina at Bass Pro Shops in Cary on March 7. The trip includes backcountry, offshore and night fishing before wrapping up with a snorkeling experience at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo.
“This wish means a lot to me as his mom,” says Jackson’s mother, Leigh. “It is a dream for him that offers a chance of a lifetime. It is something that he always wanted.”
Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina grants more than 200 wishes a year to children with life-threatening medical conditions. Learn more at eastnc.wish.org.
