Museum of Life and Science's Santa Train Ticket Sale Dates Released
Tickets to the museum's 41st anniversary Santa Train are expected to sell out quickly

The Museum of Life and Science's annual Santa Train will celebrate its 41st anniversary this holiday season and tickets are expected to sell out quickly. Sale dates for tickets to this popular holiday experience in Durham are listed below, so mark your calendars now.
Thousands of twinkling lights will shine throughout the Museum campus, guiding the way to all the fun! Check out the "ice" skating rink for skate-in-your-socks excitement. Sip complimentary hot chocolate, have your face painted, and explore the crafts and activities tent where you can make-and-take special treats and learn about the science of Santa. Then hop on board the train for a moonlit ride to the North Pole, where Santa and his elves will greet all of our guests. On your way out, be sure to visit the pop-up Museum gift shop to take home something special!
Climb aboard the Ellerbe Creek Railway for a journey to the North Pole. Enjoy a ride through thousands of twinkling lights as you make your way to meet Santa and his elves. Back at the station explore festive activities including:
- Face painting by Paint Savvy
- Holiday crafts
- "Science of Santa" activities including hands-on snow polymer, simple circuits, and more
- Holiday music and light displays
- "Skate in your socks" synthetic ice rink
- Complimentary hot chocolate
- Pop-up Museum gift shop
- Sprout Cafe will be open for light snacks and coffee
Sensory-Friendly Santa Train:
The Santa Train goes sensory-friendly on Wednesday, Dec. 5th, at the train times of 5:20 p.m., 5:40 p.m. and 6 p.m. for guests with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other similar needs. The sensory-friendly train rides will include no yelling in the tunnel and no whistle sound during the train’s ride. Some sounds and lights will be lowered. Additional staff and volunteers from the UNC TEACCH Autism Program will be on-hand to assist guests. Cool down kits, noise-canceling headphones, and social narratives will be available upon request. Train rides after 6pm will return to full light and sound. If you are unable to ride at this date and times, cool down kits, noise-canceling headphones, and social narratives will be available for all Santa Trains.

Explorer Members: Nov. 1, 9 a.m.
Business Members: Nov. 5, 9 a.m.
General Public: Nov. 6, 9 a.m.
Santa Train 2018 Dates, Prices and Times:
Nightly: Gates open at 5 p.m. and close at 9 p.m.
Trains leave every twenty minutes from 5:20 p.m. through 8:20 p.m.
Dec. 1-2 | Tickets are $15
Dec. 5-9 | Tickets are $20
Dec. 12-16 | Tickets are $22
Dec. 19-22 | Tickets are $22
Santa Train is an after hours event. General admission to the Museum is not included in your ticket cost. Tickets must be purchased in advance and will not be available at the Admission Desk or event check-in location. Proceeds from this event support the Museum's mission to create a place of lifelong learning, where people from young child to senior citizen embrace science as a way of knowing about themselves, their community, and their world.
