One of the silver linings to the new phenomenon of social distancing is the rediscovery of simpler pleasures from a simpler time. Virtually forgotten activities like going to the drive-in to catch a movie are fun again and the Raleigh Road Outdoor Theatre in Henderson has just the ticket for family movie night.
Gates open at 7 p.m. seven nights a week at North Carolina’s oldest operating drive-in theater, just about an hour north of Raleigh. Online ticketing is available and recommended as they sell out frequently. Shows start at dusk and a different late night feature selection starts at 10:30 p.m.
Concessions are available and you can even order full meals, snacks and drinks online to skip standing in line. Check out the menu and get first visit suggestions before heading out. Make sure to bring bug repellant!
For safety during the pandemic, special policies are in effect to minimize congregating in lines for restrooms and at the concessions stands. Check out the Raleigh Road Outdoor Theatre’s website and scroll to the bottom for what you need to know to keep everyone safe.
