Open Barn Day at Ninja Cow Farm – May 6
Meet local farmers and sample fresh food at Ninja Cow Farm, a family farm near Garner that raises grass-fed cows and heritage and rare breed hogs, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Take a tour of the 84-acre farm, and pet and feed its cows and baby goats. Wake Forest Cemetery Walking Tour – May 13
Gain insight about the lives of Wake Forest residents from generations past during the self-guided Wake Forest Cemetery Tour, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Docents will be stationed at family plots to share interesting stories about their ancestral relatives, and Sons of Confederate Veterans clad in uniforms will talk about soldiers who served in the Civil War. Children will receive a special handout that highlights interesting artifacts on the grounds as they learn about the cemetery’s historical significance. Admission is free. The rain date is May 20. WRAL Freedom Balloon Fest – May 26-29
This Memorial Day, honor those who have served our nation as Project Uplift USA hosts the annual WRAL Freedom Balloon Fest at Fleming Loop Recreational Park in Fuquay-Varina. See 35 hot air balloons color the skies and enjoy live music, festival food, kids’ activities, and an arts and crafts village. Admission is free.
