TEACHER GIFTS THAT IMPRESS
Teachers devote time, energy and caring to help your child. Here are top gift ideas, according to teachers we asked, if you'd like to show your appreciation during the holidays, or other special days:
Give the gift of choice – Gift cards top most teachers' wish lists. Teachers often spend their own money on classroom supplies, so gift cards for stores where they can purchase those items — or things for themselves — are good choices. Consider traditional big-box retailers, but also office supply stores, school supply stores and bookstores. Gift cards to coffee shops, restaurants or movies are more personal options. Coordinate a class gift and hang individually purchased gift cards, in envelopes, from the branches of a small potted evergreen. Or have one parent collect donations and purchase a gift card for a larger amount.
Stock the classroom – Teachers in the lower grades appreciate school supplies such as notebooks, printer paper, tissues, glue sticks, scissors, markers and crayons to replenish their supply halfway through the year. All teachers need tissues and hand sanitizer for the classroom. Package items together in a festive basket or bin that can be used for storage.
Donate your time – Consider a gift of time instead of a monetary gift. Make coupons the teacher can "cash in" for classroom volunteering, tutoring, chaperoning or even helping with supply preparation at home.
