Come by the Finley Center at Historic Yates Mill County Park any time from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 24-26 to participate in a collaborative community art project celebrating what you’re thankful for. Play a game of “Roll a Turkey” and take home your very own pinecone turkey craft. This program is intended for all ages and is FREE. Registration is not required.

Stop by the Make N Take Room at The Scrap Exchange on Nov. 24 for a FREE Make N Take session. This is an eco-friendly creative arts activity during which participants use The Scrap Exchange's fascinating collection of materials to create anything they can imagine. They provide materials along with scissors, tape and staplers. Creativity and imaginations are unleashed as students make rocket ships, costumes, robots, sculptures and more. Participants keep whatever they make. This program is best for ages 5 and older. Preregistration is requested.

This North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences series explores the intersection of science and Hollywood fiction. This month's featured movie is "The Goonies" (1985). Doors open Nov. 24 at 5:30 p.m. for food, live music and science stations, and the movie begins at 7 p.m. Science stations will enable you to learn everything you ever wanted to know about the science behind sea monsters, mythical creatures, pirates, treasure maps, pirate navigation and more. Stay after the movie for a trivia contest and expert analysis by Dr. Ann Ross, a forensic anthropologist and professor of biological sciences at North Carolina State University. Tickets may be purchased in advance and are $2 for museum members and $5 for nonmembers. Dinner, drinks and popcorn will be available to purchase before the show. The movie is rated PG and the program is recommended for ages 12 and older.

Explore the historic nature of Leigh Farm Park with a friendly park guide. Venture inside the historic farmhouse while being captivated by tales about life at Leigh Farm throughout the years. The tour is offered Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. and lasts approximately 30 minutes. No preregistration is required.
